Ayade Lays Foundation for Comprehensive Primary Health Centre, As APC Leaders Decamp to PDP in Yache
The Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu accompanied by the Chairman of SUBEB, Dr Stephen Odey; who were at Yache at the instance of the Cross River State government to deliberate with Chiefs, traditional rulers as well as opinion leaders about the Comprehensive Health Center were astonished at the mammoth crowd they met on arrival.
Heading straight to the palace amidst chanting from the excited crowd, who were screaming “Ayade Carry go, we no want another” the duo informed the council of chiefs of their mission. They were however greeted with more surprises when the people of Yache declared they had gone beyond negotiating on where to site the Health center, asking for the official laying of the foundation center.
Speaking at the event, the head of Yache Traditional Rulers Council, H.R.H Hillary Agi said Yache people had been long forgotten by government until the emergence of their son Sen. Ben Ayade as Governor. In his words “we have no health centers, schools (except for some shanties constructed by community effort) and no road leading to their communities”.
“However, Senator Ben Ayade has remembered us and has built several new class room blocks in our schools and now he has brought life to the YACHE nation. Pls let the Governor know that Yache nation will give him Comprehensive total support and he doesn’t even need to come here for campaigns”.
Responding, The DG CRSPHCDA, Dr Betta Edu expressed gratitude warm reception and hospitality of the Yache nation, she said “I am short of words and wished the Governor was here in person to see the life, excitement and hope he has given to the YACHE nation. She noted that “the Promise keeper Senator Ben Ayade is poised to reach all the communities that had been had been forgotten by previous government, to provide them with quality health care services”.
“Cross River State is on a fast track to achieving Universal Health Coverage through Ayadecare and the revitalization of the Primary health system in the state” She said “the big project worth millions of Naira will truly bring life to the YACHE nation as it will have direct effect on reduction of maternal mortality and childhood mortality as well as bring quality health care to their door step”.
In his remark, Dr Stephen Odey, who described Governor as his father and the father of the YACHE nation that had been long forgotten, noted that Governor Ayade will do even more for the Yache nation. He welcomed the decampees led by the APC leader in YACHE Hon. Mike Oruba who said he has decided to join Senator Ben Ayade where he can see visible results.
High light of the event was the laying of foundation stone by The DG, Dr Betta Edu, Chairman SUBEB, Dr Odey, Barrister Anyogor, Dir PHC Dr Ana and the Traditional rulers council of Yache.
It will be recalled that President Mohammed Buhari commissioned a Primary Health Center last week in Abuja and called on state governors to invest resources to revitalise PHC which will provide health care for the very poor and down trodden in the society.
